The Norwegian name for the place is Fordypningsrommet, which means “The Immersion Room”. It is precisely that, a place of immersion in the beautiful natural world of northern Norway.
There are no cars or shops on the island, but that does not mean that you will be missing out on the important things.
Changeable weather massages you in peace, and provides relaxation that heals. Our guests sleep deeply and grow in appetite out here in the arms of the ocean.

«Here we are reminded that immersion, calm, and silence is something that nowadays needs to be raised as an intrinsic value. That it is something we must seek out. »

a panoramic view
Our guests have the opportunity to see Northern lights . It begins as early as late august. When it occurs, the conditions are extremely nice.
The highest point on the island is only 49m above the sea (and home to an Andreasson sculpture) but the summit gives a panoramic view of the archipelago, the mountains of the mainland and the lslands of Flugloya, Landegode and Lofoten, as well as hundreds of tiny uninhabited islets.
The Northern lights
We can arrange guides for you to climb nearly 1000m to the peak of Sandhornet for sweeping views of Nordland.
We can also take you on a boat trip to the crazy beaches in Gildeskål, not to mention Nord-Fugløy with a 200 meter flying sand hill up the mountain, and eerie and beautiful natural phenomenon.
climbing
The island is home to white tailed sea eagles which often fly past the windows of the kitchen and studio. We have snipe, cormorants, gulls, ptarmigan and eider ducks, as well as migrating songbirds. If you’re lucky you might spot the local family of otters, hunting on the tideline, or sliding down the slopes if there is any snow.
We are very happy to arrange artistic meetings with graphic artist Are Andreassen. His airy studio is just a stone’s throw from the Hideaway. AreA will create graphic prints with you, while telling you about the area he has lived in his whole life in his gentle but booming northern Norwegian accent. Coming home with your own art is also a great experience.

Incredible experience at a
unique, remote property
‘I’ll never forget my stay here. Somewhere in between the waves, the wind, the wood, the wholesome food, the sense of community, the sauna, the laughter, the creative spirit and the tranquility - I transitioned, in the space of a week, from pretty frantic - to possibly the closest I’ve ever got to what it feels like to be truly alive. Oh, and Moose and Jalapeo sausages !’

The perfect place to let the
creativity grow and bloom
We had an amazing stay at Fordypningsrommet! We're musicians/composers and were lucky to get a week at Fordypningsrommet as Artist in Residence to work on some new music. It's the perfect place to let the creativity grow and bloom. The changes of the weather and the closeness to nature are truly inspiring!
